Lee Barrett, a reporter for Salem’s WICH-TV, and camerawoman Francine are the first to report on what police are doing at a local abandoned granite quarry. When divers find a red Mustang at the bottom, viewing the film footage on the news causes Lee’s beloved Aunt Ibby to drop a platter of cookies. The mystery of how the driver died combines with Aunt Ibby’s high school friends’ efforts to plan their 45-year class reunion, making for a good story.

Characterization is good. The main characters are likeable. And the witchcraft aspect is not overwhelming: Lee does have visions in mirrors and she has a familiar: O’Ryan the cat. Watch when he reproves an insensitive reporter.

This book is Carol Perry's best yet. I think it got better because now she is an investigative reporter rather than a teacher so it is more exciting. I love cold cases anyway and this one is about an old car found in a reservoir from 1974. Author still needs more "magic" in her books, though - there is a lot of looking in mirrors and having visions.
