I loved the illustrations that show whole communities of seeds! I did like the message better in the other books in this series - "The Cool Bean" and "The Good Egg" - a little better, so make sure to check those out too!

I read this book for a story time and had a blast! This is a book you can really get into narrating by drawing out those "baaaaaad"s, adding sound effects, and being overall grumpy.

You should read this book. It is really fun to read. This book is about how you have a great time with your family and then all of a sudden something terrible happens and you don't know what to do. Then somehow you get separated from your family. Then you end up being bad. But then you realize being bad is not okay so you start being nice to people. You won't be late to anything, you put things where they belong. Then your life gets better and better until you have the best day of your life! ~ Charlize, age 9

Hilarious story. It's kind of sad the seed turned 'bad' after one setback. I liked the way the seed explains how he made a choice to be good, or at least better, and that he still struggles with doing the right thing at times. A good read for showing kids the power of choice and what it means to be human.

I thought when the guy spit the seed out it looked really sad.

What is your definition of a bad seed? It is someone who doesn’t listen, or talks during the movie? What could make someone a bad seed?

In this story a little seed was pointed at and talked about every where he went. The little seed was bad because he stared, glared and finished everyone’s sentences. But, that wasn’t all. He did remember a time when he wasn’t bad. This was a time when he was with his family of seeds in a sunflower. Something had changed and the flower petals drooped and the seeds went into a dark place. What do you think happened to the little seed after that?

Author Jory John has created a simple story with a simple message. Beginner readers will find this story to be a quick and easy read. Basic illustrations depict the characters in an expressive way. Parents and teachers can use this as a guide to teach kindness and a better understanding of how we can all change.

This bad seed is too cute not to love. A great book to remind us that we aren't always "perfect."
