An interesting story, telling of The Clearances in Scotland in the 1840's. This a little-known period of crofters being forced off the land because landlords could make more money grazing sheep. The Clearances coincided with the potato famine which affected Scotland as well as Ireland and drove emigration. This story is more historical fiction than romance. The narrator is exceptionally good at voicing the individual characters, each in their own particular Scottish lilt. Reading it in print wouldn't give me nearly as much pleasure as listening to the dialogue.
