Mackenzie "Mack" Dalton is a Milwaukee bar owner with a nose for trouble -- literally. A neurological glitch has left her with extra perceptive senses. So when she stumbles upon a dead body in the alley behind the bar -- the same spot where her own father was shot eight months earlier -- she can tell right away there's something fishy in the air. The lead detective thinks there's a link between the two deaths, and he'll need Mack's help to sniff out the murderer amid the crowd of eccentric regulars.

I enjoyed this book as it was different (the story takes place in a bar) and the plot was creative. I didn't love the name of one of the main characters, Duncan Albright, as it feels a little overdone. I also didn't like the way Duncan Albright came onto the female protagonist; during the course of a criminal investigation the police detective winks twice in as many hours at a woman he just met, who had just found a dead body in the alley behind her business. It does have a colourful cast of characters, so I may give the series another chance.

Although the plot and characters are good, I only gave this book three stars because the entire story takes place in a bar. Very monotonous as there is no other scenes to visualize, which starts to get boring after a while. I hope the next book in the series is an improvement.
