The character, Samantha, is just horrible. The way she thinks is repetitive and she questions everything. Who to trust? Angels, or someone you just met who eats souls? Gee, I don't know. You really question the common sense of the author.

I was literally yelling at the book, "Really, how did you come up with that conclusion? That doesn't even make sense! So now you're thinking about this when it was so obvious? You didn't notice before!?"

Samantha is suppose to be a high school girl but her mindset suggests she's somewhere around middle school. Every page, every chapter, I wanted to choke her. However, all the other characters were likable except her.

I wasn't expecting this book to be in first person, and it would have been better off in third because Samantha's thought process and actions just makes you want to shoot yourself.

The plot and the other characters did however push me through to read the entire book. The interesting question is why does this book rate close to 5 stars? 1 star for plot. 1 for characters. That's enough. It's almost -and I mean it, almost-a romance novel, so I assume all the tweens ages 12-16 will like this.
