I thought this was one of the best books in the series! Rachel may have got her butt kicked over and over, but she never gives up, always gets up, keeps her dignity and her heart. Love this character.
Never took this book out or readed!!!
Yay! All our favorite characters are here, big adventures, crazy adventures, hints of romance etc. Strong addition to the series.
Rachel is back. She's managed to reverse her shunning, and is wearing enchanter silver so that Al doesn't know she's alive. But she is drawn into an investigation when witches are found dead and horribly mutilated. An anti-Inderlander hate group, HAPA, has somehow learned magic and is looking to use it to wipe out anyone like Rachel, Ivy or Jenks. Can Rachel find those responsible before they find her and use her blood to start the plague?
Another great Hollows novel from Harrison. Characters continue to grow and change, which is something that I as a read appreciate. Rachel's development continues as she begins to embrace her demonhood. Trent is also there, with Harrison hinting HEAVILY at a romance to follow. And we find out there are more than just the FIB and IS fighting crime in the Hollows.
Definitely worth picking up.
It sounds like Rachel Morgan might actually be starting to grow up and regain her self-confidence. The fact that I care, and I’m still reading these books is some indication that there’s enough complexity and interest to keep me going.
Enjoyed this series. Not as much "magical" action for heroine until near the end of book. Hopefully Trent/Rachel get it together by next book.
After reading the 4 reviews here, I figured I add my 2 cents.
I believe that anyone saying this book 'wrecked the whole series' for them needs to start back at book 1 or perhaps move to Laurel K. Hamilton's later Anita Blake series...from about book 12 on. That may suit them better. Note...I dropped that series after the author turned Anita in a sex queen with a thousand and one partners and her sex life ended up being the only thing Anita hunted book after book.
This book was about growth, learning, and Rachel moving towards the next phase of her life.
That being said, I do agree that at some points Rachel seemed too stupid to live. That's life and I quickly got over it. If Rachel was written as if she were perfect there would have been a book two, but nothing further as we all would have lost interest.
From what I have read this series will soon be coming to an end. I'm hoping for a Rachel/Trent union to tie things up.
Another good entry here. There`s a definite story line being plotted out over several books, started about two or three books ago and you can really start to see the shift in Rachel, and you`re really left wondering how this will all play out, including (let`s face it) the dance that is occurring between her and Trent. I think it`s realistic that mistakes are made and the revelation that there is another group in play is really intriguing. Am looking forward to the next installment, as there is nothing more annoying than hanging onto a series for this long only to read the same thing over and over again. Hope there's more to come in the development of the I am a demon thing, but not really thing.
Def not the best and it seemed like the author forgot what Rachel's character was supposed to be like. She got her ass kicked in every fight...
Wrecked the whole series for me.... Rachel was just insanely stupid, and she wouldn't shut up. I swear 80% of the book was just her rambling, idiotic, useless thoughts.
