Rites of Passage by Joy N. Hensley is a girl-power book about Sam Mckenna. Sam has come from a large family of Denmark Military Academy Alumni. Sam is now one of the first girls to attend the all male military school, she must face hard challenges in the military lifestyle, being challenged and pushed every day. Determined to do her best and try everyday after her brothers suicide everyday, Sam manages to push through. I have been wanting to read this book for a while and I am sad to say that I was disappointed. It started off interesting with lots of mysteries and new characters however it peaked at page fifty. Sam’s day was the exact same and there were so many military characters it was confusing and eventually I got very bored. It takes a strong person to finish reading this book in my opinion. I would not recommend this book, however if you do want to read this book I suggest it is for anyone over the age of twelve. Review- 2.5/5. @readit12 of The Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board

This action packed, thrilling novel, kept me at the edge of my seat. I couldn't put it down. I finished all at once. I wanted to know more about Sam, Drill, and the DMA. I reread to the novel 9 times. It was that good. I would recommend this to all my friends.
