The Moon is Moon Ridge Estates to which 13-year-old Socko is forced to move away from his “hood” and his friends so that he and his mother can care for his great-grandfather whom Socko has never met. The General, his great-grandfather, is a crabby old man but he has bought the house for them if they will care for him until he dies and then they will own it.. Socko resents having to leave his friends, Damien and Junebug, at the mercy of Rapp and his gang and is even more distressed when he discovers that he, his mother, and the General are the only residents in the new survey. Socko has always felt he was a wuss but he discovers that he really can stand up when he must to protect his friends. Reviewed by BPL volunteer EE.
