This was an excellent story. Good plot, strong characters with realistic interactions while dealing with a very difficult real situations that are ongoing unfortunately. Kept my interest throughout the story. Very well written and well worth the read. Will be looking into more of her writing.
I don't read very many thrillers, simply because they don't normally grab me and hold my interest. The Gingerbread Man managed to suck me in from page one, and didn't let me go. I read the first 100 pages in a single sitting. The mystery was intriguing, but so were the characters. Holly was damaged but strong and knew what she wanted. Vince was traumatized but focused. Every character stood out and held their own, from Reggie to Selkirk. The story kept me guessing as to who the murderer was, and it all came together just the way it was supposed to. The reveal surprised me, and they don't normally do that. I'm rather good at guessing, but Shayne kept the secret until she wanted the reader to know whodunit. This is a great quick read for anyone who enjoys a thriller with a little bit of romance on the side.
