"Solène Marchand, the thirty-nine-year-old owner of an art gallery in Los Angeles, is reluctant to take her daughter, Isabelle, to meet her favorite boy band. But since her divorce, she's more eager than ever to be close to Isabelle. The last thing Solène expects is to make a connection with one of the members of the world-famous August Moon. But Hayes Campbell is clever, winning, confident, and posh, and the attraction is immediate. That he is all of twenty years old further complicates things. What begins as a series of clandestine trysts quickly evolves into a passionate and genuine relationship. It is a journey that spans continents as Solène and Hayes navigate each other's worlds: from stadium tours to international art fairs to secluded hideaways in Paris and Miami. For Solène, it is a reclaiming of self, as well as a rediscovery of happiness and love. When Solène and Hayes' romance becomes a viral sensation, and both she and her daughter become the target of rabid fans and an insatiable media, Solène must face how her romantic life has impacted the lives of those she cares about most"-- Provided by publisher.

I'm not sure I have the words. What I wanted by the end of the book and what I received were on two contrasting planes. At the same time, I have the utmost respect for the story an author is led to tell even if it isn't the happily-ever-after I come to expect. Just like life, it was unpredictable. It doesn't change the fact that I'm still reeling and feeling a bit lost after investing myself emotionally in Hayes and Solene's love story. Overall, The Idea of You was a sublimely written romance and original in its unpredictability.

I also listened intermittently to the audio version narrated by the author herself. Initially, I wasn't sure what I thought. As I continued to listen, I became transfixed by her voice, inflections, and competent accents. It was the perfect way to experience the tone of the story exactly as it was intended.

Reading The Idea of You is like falling in love again, for the very first time. Everything is new and exciting and wonderful, and also a little terrible because you know at some point it must end. This book is truly beautiful and I am amazed that this is Robinne Lee's debut novel. I cannot wait for her to write more books (and I desperately hope for a sequel!).

Another excellent entry in the sub-genre of "books clearly based on Harry Styles."

When gallerist Solène Marchand takes her pre-teen daughter to a concert by the world-famous British boyband August Moon, she doesn't expect that it will lead to a relationship with band member Hayes Campbell. He's smart, he's sexy, he's rich...and he's literally half Solène's age - fun for a fling, maybe, but nothing else. But (there's always a but!) they like each other. They like each other SO MUCH.

This novel is extremely sexy and filled with swoon-worthy moments. It's also a gorgeous, heart-breaking exploration of the sacrifices that women are expected to make and the way those sacrifices can be both necessary and devastating.
