A great dramatic tale based on true events that leaves you breathless!

Thought-provoking, but warning: somewhat sad and painful.
Discredited reporter who is eager for redemption, sets out to write the tell-all book about the death-row man who (perhaps) murdered his wife and three kids. Wow! One publisher bites hard, and ponies up a $250,000 advance before the man's book's half written.
But then, uh-oh...things start to go wrong...the publisher is pissed and redemption seems a lot further away than the would-be author first thought.
Nice turn by Oscar nominee Jonah Hill, (War Dogs, Moneyball, Wolf of Wall Street) as the writer in question.
What makes this movie MORE interesting since it was first released in 2015, is the our growing preoccupation since then of "fake news," what it is, why it is, and who's responsible, and also because co-star James Franco (the man on Heathrow) is claiming "fake news" about those reportedly suffering from his sexual harassment...
Excellent movie. Recommended.
Compelling.
Compelling film, but I was ultimately left unimpressed
This movie was unfortunately dull and way too long. However, it is interesting to try to understand the gray area between "truth" and "perceived truth". Especially because this is based on a true story, I can't help but wonder why Finkel decides to continue his relationship with Longo. Also, Longo who is currently awaiting death row is running a publishing company out of prison (I think).
Rated 5/10. An extremely average movie.
The library will fix the disc by recoating it, then return it to you, they are excellent....... This movie is a psychological thriller which leaves you guessing, it's great.
This disc is broken. It stops at the 53 minute mark due to cracks
This is a 2015 American mystery thriller directed by Rupert Goold, based on the memoir of the same name by Michael Finkel.
Christian Longo is a man on the FBI's most wanted list for murdering his wife and three children in Oregon.
He hid in Mexico under the identity of Michael Finkel, a journalist working for the New York Times.
The film explores the relationship that develops between the two men after the journalist Finkel begins to meet with Longo in prison.
It is a psychological drama, but it is NOT clear at all from a viewer's point of view whether or not Christian Long is actually telling lies.
