Holly Black is truly a magical genius. Every aspect of The Wicked King (as well as it's predecessor, The Cruel Prince) is finely crafted: the characters are all complex with unique personalities, the plot is full of unexpected twists and turns, and the world of Faerie is described in vivid detail... I could not put this book down!!! 5/5 All the way!

This book did not disappoint, I remember thinking the Cruel Prince was not as good as everyone kept telling me it was and I was a bit disappointed in it. Its the reason it took me so long to read this book but WOW was I not disappointed here!!!

Jude is smart, fierce and manipulative and it is fantastic to read. Cardan is self distructive, sweet and shockingly calculating, his character development is impressive and well done.

I am sure we can all admit that Taryn is horrible and despicable. I really just hate her, she is the worst twin anyone could have and Jude deserves better.

Madoc is a weird soft spot for me. I liked him in the Cruel Prince and I still like him in this book too. He's an interesting character and for all his power play I feel like there might be more to him than what we are shown.

I could keep going on about different characters but I will leave it at that for now. I loved the different character arcs. I thought it was exicuted very well and I am very excited to start Queen of Nothing. Do not, not give this book a chance because you were not overly thrilled with the Cruel Prince. You will miss an excellent story if you do.

Here we go FREAKING again.

Holly Black either give up or please for everyones sanity take a creative writing class.

Again, what was the plot of the book? I said it with the first one and I will say it with the second.
"If the reader has no idea what the goal is, the whole reason that the main character is out to do and achieve things, the.... PLOT then it just simply isn't worth reading."

How is it that all of a sudden Jude knows what the heck she's doing like she's some freaking mastermind. It's absolutely pathetic and having to read it and having Jude and the other characters actually believe her when there was no context and evidence to that point was painful to read and once again... PATHETIC.

She refuses to develop her characters. Here we are again in the second book and we still don't have a layout to any of the characters. Sure why wouldn't it be Jude's character to put on a bright pink frilly dress and heels, or all black combat boots and a baseball bat... well we simply don't know because Ms. Black can't do one major thing that is crucial to every writer, and that is to develop characters.

Again I say, this read was pointless and had zero substance. Congratulations Holly Black your have disappointed me to my very core. I was giving it another chance, because she could have went MILES with this but due to poor writing and a lack to improve she let her readers down with mediocre work.

Thankfully I rented this book for the library and I didn't waste my money on it, because that would have been money flushed down the toilet.

Very disappointing and boring. The first book was much better. Not one of the characters in this book were interesting, least of all Jude. All she did was mope and make one bad decision after another which was frustrating to read. I would have liked to have seen parts written from Cardans point of view. It needed so much more of him! Unfortunately the book only got interesting in the last few chapters.

This was among the most awaited books of 2019 for me and I must say that it delivers and it delivers like the best dream from which I never want to wake up and even after waking up which I didn't want to, I am still in trance and still thinking and trying to live through that same dream and reverie and never wake up. Yep, this was a very delicious read. I say delicious because if I could taste it which i almost could, it would taste delicious.

What a comeback! I didn't think it would be this good but it was and I honestly can't wait to read the next one. The plot thickens and everyone is plotting against everyone. The story has become even more dark and dangerous and the stakes have become higher for everyone really. Jude is trying to stay on top of everything along with finding a way to keep Cardan on the throne for longer without sacrificing much. She wants to keep Oak safe and in trying to do that she makes even more enemies and finds out some of the traitors.

Cardan is just playing the puppet as Jude is the one making the decisions and I loved him even more in this book and all that tension between him and Jude was just amazing. The way his character unfolds in this book, I can honestly say that I did not see that coming at all. I loved it loved it loved it.

The Bomb was another favorite of mine. She was just great and the way she did things, I wanted more of her.

Vivi had become a bit more annoying in this book but I liked her nonetheless.

Then there was Taryn whom I liked even less than the last book and I didn't think it was possible. I don't understand how can she expect Jude to talk to her after doing what she did to her own sister. And I am even more mad at Jude for that because why would she want to talk to Taryn even after knowing what Taryn did to her. I don't have a sister may be that's why I don't understand.

Madoc was still very dangerous in this and now he knows more secrets about Jude and it is going to be even more interesting to see how all that plays out in the next one.

There wasn't much of Oak in this but he's been the same cute boy who had my heart in the previous book. I just love him.

I absolutely recommend this series to all the fantasy lovers out there even if they don't like the Faerie world. May be give this a go and you never know, you must start loving this world.

I read the first book and I instantly fell in love with it. I wanted to read this book so bad, now that I have its better that I imagined thrilling and plot twisting. Honestly keeps you guessing a real page turner! I can’t wait for the next one I hope she can tell her true feelings in the next book.

I am a bit tardy to the Holly Black party but I am so glad I finally arrived! THIS. SERIES. IS. FANTASTIC! So many twists and turns. Scheming, plotting, backstabbing, treachery, deceit, this book has it all and yet leaves you wanting more.

I am very particular about how the Other Crowd is portrayed in fiction and am pleased to say that Holly Black knows her stuff. I really enjoy the fact that they have created a world with a diverse group of characters, including many lesser-known Fey.

"The three of you have one solution to every problem. Murder. No key fits every lock.” Cardan gives us all a stern look, holding up a long-fingered hand with my stolen ruby ring still on one finger. “Someone tries to betray the High King, murder. Someone gives you a harsh look, murder. Someone disrespects you, murder. Someone ruins your laundry, murder."
