Disappointing, crudely written like a sophmore’s unsuccessful first shot at urban fantasy. It was suggested as a “while you’re waiting” pick -not a trustworthy tool. Don’t waste your time.

This book had no idea what it wanted to be. Spy novel, murder mystery, romance novel, , historical novel, with alchemy, time travel and drug trips, all tossed in to a hodge-podge with little sense of continuity ir actual storytelling. There were elements that could have made for a strong book if developed fully, but they were all glossed over in favor of nonsense. Its as though the authors were simply throwing themes at the storyboard to see what they could make stick. It wasnt a particularly bad book but it was far from good.

This book is so awesome! I can't wait until I can get my hands on the next book. Very engaging, with history that pulls you between times and a sentimental, but vibrant love and adds just the right amount of spice that makes you 'route' for the characters even more. A story that is complicated, mysterious, time bending, that makes you want to believe in things unseen. What happens in the past almost always affects the future. Brilliant. Wicked. Fun.

Fun read - weird characters, mad coincidences, alchemists, music, murder, a castle with hidden rooms and a strong female heroine.

This book was fun. Honestly, the sex stuff in the beginning was a little weird, but once they got into the mystery the story picked up. I missed my stop on the train today while I was nearing the end. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel.

Couldn't finish it and also had to return it. Not my favorite type of book.

A great read; combines all the elements to keep you turning the pages long past your bedtime

This is one of those books that restores my faith in the power of a truly fabulous read! I came upon this book at just the right time - I'd just started and discarded 4 books in a row (not typical for me, so I was starting to panic! Is there something wrong with me? Am I losing my ability to be entertained? Have I become overly cynical? Should I seek professional help??) and so may have actuallly whispered a little plea before opening this book that it please please please be a good one! And as you might have guessed by now, IT TOTALLY WAS!! I didn't want it to end. It was wonderfly written, desperately funny, and one of my favorite books of the year. So far. Read on!!

What a great read. I didn't know what to expect from this book with lots of buzz. Let's have a kickass PhD student, an evil senator, time travel, a very rude Beethoven, Prague & a 400 year old "little person". Lots of action, mystery & wry humour. Can't wait for the sequel.

A fun mystery/fantasy with a likable heroine, though she's definitely NOT of the touchy/feely variety. The plot was a little bit more complicated than it had to be, it was still a very enjoyable ride. They left it open for a sequel, which I'll happily read if it ever appears.
