Add a CommentWhen Stapleton carries the word Fire to the very end of his breath in the song fire away I knew I was going to like this CD. I donāt necessarily care for the lyrics about getting drunk and stoned (Its in the been there done that myself that I donāt like) but I like the songs they are part of. Heās a believable outlaw.
Love the song Tennessee whiskey
Love his voice- a little bit Johnny Reid, a little bit Matt Andersen and the instruments sound real good but the lyrics are a bit harsh in a "drinkin" and doin" drugs" way for this Canadian listener.
Loved it great music
Now check this out...I am a 50-ish old Black Girl Magic chick and had never, ever heard of a Chris Stapleton. But I was minding my own business, getting a cup of coffee and Tennessee Whiskey started to play. Ain't. Been. Right. Since. This boy's voice is silky smooth with like the likes of a Barry White, Larry Graham & some Rod Stewart rasp. His range and his runs on this album are phenomenal. Background vocals are harmonizing, soothing, and just complete. It's a gift. Bluesy drawls to perfect harmonizing-- this album has it all. I am in love and feel deprived I hadn't known of Chris sooner. I'm a Louisiana girl and this dude is legit with his lyrics and passion. If he's in KC, I'm there! Damn this album is good! A sister doesn't know how to two step HOWEVER it on now y'all!
I have to disagree with the UlitmateReviewer, again. Chris Stapleton has an Amazing voice! It is awesome to hear a man with a beard and cowboy hat actually make good, sorry great country music.
Fantastic!
Did the closing song for Chris Pine's film Hell of High Water - absolutely knocked me out! MUST listen to the CD.
Bluesy, southern country music. Hopefully this album will help turn country music from its overproduced pop sound it's clung to for the last several years.
He can't sing at all. I mean, his voice is terrible. You can't hear what he says because he screams and doesn't deliver the words very well. As for the songs, from what you can hear, Tracks 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 11 are good songs. The rest are bad. I don't even know about Track 14 because I had to turn it off. It was just terrible. Not recommended.
