This book is great for April poetry month, it fosters understanding and taking a walk in someone else's shoes. It includes activities for interactive poetry in the classroom and at home.

There's lots of depth and layering in the poems (posted side by side by two classmates on a variety of topics). Alliances are formed through the power of the written word, and two school children discover that they have more in common than they ever realized.

With excellent prose, the poems are worth multiple reads in order to catch the full effect.
