Surprised to have learned so much about Cuban cuisine, as well as Cuban American culture. I think the culture was made prominent because the main character, a talented young baker and cook, compared her Miami culture to that of a smaller English city. Her observations described the two cultures and the ways she found to blend the strengths of both through her baking. (Read on Axis360.)
