I have to agree with those who are disappointed in this sad excuse of a novel. Patterson thinks that it is perfectly OK to recycle plot twists from previous novels. And of late all he can come up with are threats to his main characters' families. This novel has no life, no cleverness, no ending. Others have mentioned the transparent plot development. I have to agree. A sad end to a once-promising series. Seems to me that Patterson is just churning out novel after novel with no regard for quality or creativity. When he works with certain co-authors, I fully believe that their contributions are what I enjoy. Since he wrote this alone, I get the feeling that he is in serious writer's block. And I notice that the press reviews were both raves. Not sure they were reading the same book I just read. Or I had no access to their cache of drugs. The cliffhanger ending is the final straw. I won't be reading the finale when it is released. I wish Robert Parker hadn't died...
