This is the first book by Eicher that I have read, and I am delighted to say that it won't be my last! Two widowers, a widow, and a determined young woman star in this Amish novel. With each character having a different perception of what romance and marriage is, it will take some beautiful flowers and a few divine 'hints' to get these characters where they need to be. Ultimately, though, all four young people will realize that love is worth the wait – and that, sometimes, God has plans that are better than we could ask for. Eicher is a talented writer, adept at capturing the variety of human emotions and relationships. The romance of this book is not idealized: rather, it is honest, genuine, and sometimes not quite so 'sparkly' as we often look for. The result is a romantic Amish read that is more heartfelt and romantic than one might expect. The characters are well-developed, the ending not quite as one might expect, and the pacing just right for the type of story it is. I'm looking forward to the next one in the series, and hope to see some familiar faces in the storyline.
