The Song of Solomon won the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction in 1978, and is Toni Morrison's third book. A controversial coming of age story, it echoes the lasting legacy of slavery and racism. It is expansive in its scope and centers around Macon "Milkman" Dead III and his family. A true classic.
