Zines

We're excited to announce that the E38 Zine Collection is now searchable in the catalog and available to fill requests for pick-up at your favorite branch location! For the last five years, the collection has only been available for check-out from the East 38th Street Branch. Finally we're able to send them to you! Below is just a small sample of close to 600 titles in the collection. What's a Zine? Zines are pamphlets and small booklets or magazines created by individuals or small groups, and cover a wide variety of content, ranging from fiction and poetry to social justice information and fan content. They’re typically handmade, or “do-it-yourself” (DIY), and come in all different shapes, sizes, and formats. Even more importantly, zines often feature the voices of underrepresented groups. Zine communities have a strong DIY ethos, and sharing content is prioritized over profit. Zines are a popular format at many public libraries, and we’re excited to see the E38 collection become available to fill requests!
