GlobetrottersGlobetrotters

"A fast-paced and delightful graphic novel about two trailblazing women who took the world by storm, in a race for the ages. In this spirited tale, author Julian Voloj and illustrator Julie Rocheleau deliver an enthralling account of two female journalists who set off on a real-life version of Jules Verne's Around the World in Eighty Days. It is a remarkable true story that feels every bit as fresh today as it did then. In late 1889, following an explosive exposé on a New York City insane asylum, New York World reporter Nellie Bly decides to take up another challenge: besting the famous record set by Verne's globetrotting hero Phileas Fogg. And she has the wind at her back, thanks to the deep pockets of publisher Joseph Pulitzer. But she won't be alone. As she begins her journey eastward, the rival Cosmopolitan picks up on the endeavor and decides to send one of its own reporters, Elizabeth Bisland, in the opposite direction. May the best woman win! What ensues is a race not only against time, but also sexism and prejudice. Despite their backers, these two incredible pioneers will have to face down doubters every step of the way, and they can't afford to trip up. The whole world is watching!"-- Back cover.
